About SoHomeAs of June 2015, the average length of stay in foster care for those adopted is 33 months, 38 months for those who age out, and nine months for those who are reunited with their families. This statistic is important because children are staying in the system an incredible length of time considering that children view time much different than adults do. In a time of 3 years, the child could take their first steps and say their first words, graduate from kindergarten or highschool, purchase their first car, or win their little league tournament. A great amount can happen in three years and that is why these children need a quality home.On any given day, there are 50-100 children on a list awaiting placement with a foster home. Where do they go in the meantime? We are glad you asked. They come to us! We have a big vision, but we believe it is attainable because we have a large contributor: Jesus. Our vision is to eradicate this list. We know, it’s a big vision. However, our God is a big God. We have an amazing head start with a facility of over 8,000 sq ft. This home will provide a placement for up to 20 children and teens, comfortably. What makes SoHome different from other homes is our focus to maintain the nuclear family as much as possible. We will do this by giving priority to siblings in care that are in need of placement. We can’t accomplish this goal without YOU. Would you prayerfully consider helping us bring the vision to life?
